So, posting to the Blog has been a real problem again. Word is Brandeis may let me host and maintain the Blog locally soon, which would be nice.

At any rate, I’m 21 now. I bought a case of beer (for a class) (seriously) (don’t tell the administration) (they have enough to worry about these days) (what with anthrax and all) and had a glass of wine with dinner. Didn’t technically drink any of the beer, but I drank my wine.

I woke up in a pile of my own vomit.

Okay, I didn’t, but it’d be a great kicker, no?

Tomorrow, I fly back to Boston. My flight leaves from Tucson at 9am, finally letting me down at Logan — that Fort Knox of airports — at 6pm. Spur rehearsal begins promptly at 7:30. In the words of a cousin of mine, “Gevalt.”

It’ll be hard to leave Tucson, after spending a few days with my crying, drooling, crawling, screaming relatives. And I’ll miss my two small nieces, too!

The writer and maintainer of the Lex Files is currently surrounded by Lex Philes.

That is to say, I’m currently with my biggest fans — my family. I went “home” to Arizona for this unusual American holiday, and am visiting with my parents, my sisters, my two young nieces, my brother-in-law, and my brother-in-law’s sister, which is a familial role that I don’t think we have a real name for in our language. I nominante “foonsh” (pronounced: “FOONSH”). She’s not a sister-in-law, she’s not a cousin, she’s not an aunt twice removed… She’s a foonsh. Works for me!

Enjoy your Thanksgivings! And visit my girlfriend Lauren’s page sometime — she’s cute, even if she loves her dog more than she loves me.

Monday was the busiest day of No Classes I ‘ve ever had. I just did all sorts of work all day — rehearsed a scene for a friend’s directing class, worked for hours at WBRS, went with Eli to Lifestyles Adult Entertainment to get materials for our radio show. Did some school work, did some errands, did some other work, and so on.

Saw “Shallow Hal” last night. I have at least a dozen inappropriate, “in poor taste” jokes to make, but I don’t want to offend anyone*, so I won’t.

*Note: By “anyone,” I mean “fat people.”

Didja ever have one of those weekends where it starts out with your a cappella group singing at an all-girls school two hours away, then you come home and play video games with your housemates, only your eyes start stinging and tearing for no particular reason, which of course means two things: (1) Your eyes hurt; and (2) You do pretty poorly at the video game, what with all the tearing and such.

That’s all Friday. Then Saturday, you wake up around 10:30, install a new MP3 player, and in the process of doing so, manage to delete all 527 of your MP3s, including more than 200 for which you actually paid money. Then you spend the next wasted hour and a half of your life painstakingly recovering said MP3s with various UnErase technologies… But discover to your dismay that a decent chunk have boggling corruptions — where they play the tune, but in the middle throw in a bridge from some other MP3, and then return to the intial tune.

So, what’s the answer? DID you ever have a weekend like that?

    Me neither.

Sprint PCS has a new feature when you call their toll-free number (or dial *2 from your Sprint PCS phone): A virtual service representative.

This thing is crazy. She says, “Hi, I’m Claire, and I’m your virtual service representative. How can I help you?” And you’re supposed to talk to Claire in a normal voice. She really understood me when I talked to her, but eventually she left me on hold too long, so I called back.

“Claire,” I said, “I just want to talk to a human being.”

“I understand,” she said. I swear. She continued, “Just tell me what you want to speak to the representative about and I’ll connect you to a person right away.”

    Crazy.

Then, I said, “Thanks, Claire, you’ve been very helpful.” To which she replied, “No problem, Lex. And tell Lauren I say hello. Love the Blog, and the new haircut.”

Okay, you got me. She actually said she wasn’t that fond of the blog.

    Sweet Mother of God.

I’ve gotten more than 2,500 page views since about 30 hours ago. (That essentially means that people are coming to the site and checking out the pages within, like the archives, columns, and songs. It wasn’t 2500 separate people, it was 2500 clicks within the Blog itself.)

But, in the past 11 days, I’ve had 2,390 individual hits to this main page alone, and the archives are close behind. I’m hovering around the top 15 sites on the people.brandeis.edu server, mostly behind professors (in terms of bandwidth usage), and in the top 10 on total page views, behind sites like the directory and common graphics that appear on multiple pages.

I get thousands of hits overnight! This must be what Mazar-e-Sharif feels like. (Rim shot.)

My column about this very blog appears in the current issue of the Justice (see Columns Page if you missed it). Perhaps now my average daily visitors will fly through the roof!

Or, perhaps, my parents will continue reloading the site dozens of times a day. Either way, my stats will stay high.

I’m having some trouble making posts. Who knows if this one will even make it online. Grrrrrrrrr.

Today’s post was supposed to be about my new haircut. It’s my first new style in 9 years. Literally. It is much, much shorter, combed forward Clooney-style for the most part, with a few short wisps in the front sticking up. The sides are pretty short, not see-the-scalp short, but close.

But today’s post isn’t really about that anymore. Another plane crash, thought to be from an on-board explosion. 250 more people presumed dead. Any day now, things should be getting back to normal.

I’m supposed to fly home for Thanksgiving.
