MacFixIt reports on Apple’s ridiculously crappy Powerbook/iBook AC adapters.

I’ve had two PowerBook AC adapters fry in the manner described in the piece. Both ended up sparking during their final functioning days.

I didn’t have AppleCare for my 15″ original TiBook, and Apple and the Los Angeles-area Apple Stores refused to replace the adapters for free. My third adapater came from LaptopSavers.com and seems to be working great, though I’ve lost the green/orange ’status light’ that the original adapter offered.
