From the Grab blog: Under My Skin

I have moles.

Most of us do, I suppose. But I have a LOT of moles. And my dermatologist doesn’t like some of them. So, from time to time, she likes to cut them off. More for the sake of “preventing melanoma” than “looking moleless,” but they’re both benefits, I suppose.

Just yesterday, I had to duck out of Grab HQ for a couple hours to have YAMR. (That’s “Yet Another Mole Removal” for those not yet hip to my lingo.)

Everything went great!

If by “great,” you mean: I wasn’t successfully numbed, so when the doc used her sharp knife to cut into the skin on my arm, I felt it and tried to explode in a gooey mess of pain.

Which is PRECISELY how I use the term “great.”

The doctor said, and I quote: “Wait, you can FEEL that?”

Uh, yeah.

Her shock was not comforting. Nor, sadly, was the second shot of numbing agent that she gave me, because I was terrified of “feeling” for the remainder of the procedure.

Will I continuing see this dermatologist? Honestly, I’ll have to mole it over.
